Fruit on Keto? Too Much Fat? Do I Have to Count Macros?

Diets can be confusing. Learning just one inside & out is time consuming enough. And many of us know that one sugary mistake on a keto diet kicks us out of ketosis and makes us fat seemingly overnight. But is all sugar equal? In order to find out, not only do we have to have a firm grasp on the Bulletproof/keto diet, we also must fully understand all of the other diets out there. Medical Medium, anyone? What about all of the nutrients and trace minerals contained in fruits, or the lysine in potatoes? But is eating vegan the healthiest way to eat? Not necessarily.


So, is your diet keeping you from healing? Mine was, and I didn't know it. I had all of the facts, the research, to support my clean, cyclical keto diet. I looked healthy, helped other people follow the same diet with great results, yet I had injuries that (unnecessarily) took years to heal. Have you ever had a concussion that wouldn't heal? My vegan friend did. 

If these questions are circling in the back of your mind, read on. 

Here, we dig into different diets and attempt to really make sense of them. We will touch on highlights, major points to know, if/then scenarios, and give you firsthand information and feedback. Then we will try to make life a little easier for you and recommend some good products so you don't have to scour the Internet and spend an evening comparing items. Our goal is to educate you to think for yourself and listen to your body in order to get the results you're after. 

Everyone is different. However, we all breathe air, have digestive systems organized the same way, and burn two types of energy for fuel: glucose and ketones. Vitamin C is the cure for scurvy in every human that I'm aware of. We dig into how to listen to your unique body, as well as what health benefits you're missing out on by restricting certain foods. 

And, yes. I'm a certified nutritionalist. That doesn't mean that I would recommend the diet that I am certified to talk to people about. The food pyramid should be rearranged.

At Optify Health, we think a balanced scientific approach to diets is the right choice. Every human is largely the same mammal, but to find effective results for you, no one but you will be more in tune and more of an expert. We hope to shine the flashlight down the hallway so you see what obstacles may be in your way. Finding the right balance usually involves a little experimenting and some trial and error. Someone may be able to eat a food that you can't. While science is really helpful, there are still things that both science and the medical industry haven't discovered yet, some things that cannot be explained, some things that work but don't have tons of research behind them yet.
